Three-time World Champion Mark Williams has already secured his place in the Group Five play-offs of BetVictor Championship League Snooker after winning all four of his matches on the opening day of play at Morningside Arena, Leicester.
All seven players have won at least one match, leaving it all to play for on day two, with live coverage on a host of betting websites and on zhibo.tv, one of the biggest sports streaming platforms in China, as players battle for a place in the top four and the group play-offs.
Williams has only conceded three frames in four best-of-five matches and is already assured a place in the play-offs. Kyren Wilson and Graeme Dott share second with two points having both won two of their three fixtures. Joe Perry, Tom Ford, David Gilbert and Anthony McGill have one win on the board, with Perry and Ford having played four matches and the others having each played three times.
Leicester local Ford has the highest break of the tournament so far with a 139 made in defeating Wilson 3-2. The group carries a high-break bonus of £500.
BetVictor Championship League Snooker is a venture between Matchroom Sport and Perform where 25 of the game’s elite players compete for their share of a total prize pot of up to £205,000. RASSON BILLIARDS provide the official tables of the tournament.
Each of the seven players faces each other once in the round-robin group stage, after which the top four players in the league table progress to Thursday evening’s play-offs. The eventual group champion advances to Winners’ Group in March with the remaining players who finished in the top five during the league phase continuing to group three later this month, where three new players join the tournament.
The bottom two players in each group phase are eliminated. All matches are best of five.
