The Morningside Arena, having previously hosted the Champions League Darts in 2019, is set to stage the renowned double-start tournament the World Grand Prix running from October 3rd-9th, 2021. 32 PDC stars will battle it out to for the title of World Grand Prix Champion, along with their share of £450,000 in prize money.
From behind closed doors in 2020, to a forecasted sell-out in 2021, the Morningside Arena are set to open their doors and welcome crowds back to the prestigious event taking place in two days’ time.
With the 32-player field now confirmed, and the draw announced succeeding the Gibraltar Darts Trophy, winner and top seed, Gerwyn Price, will face Michael Smith, while second seed, Peter Wright is set to battle Rob Cross in the first round of the Grand Prix. See here for all fixtures.
Michael van Gerwen – ranked World number 3 according to the PDC Order of Merit – is ready to make his return to Leicester after taking home the Champions League Darts trophy back in 2019. The five-time Grand Prix champion will take on fellow Dutchman, Danny Nopert in his bid to regain the title.
